What Halloween Eve?

Posted by aaronkok at 11:37 PM on October 31, 2005.

It's supposed to be Halloween Eve tonight, but this is Malaysia, and so it's Deepavali Eve instead. The classes at the tuition centre are officially over for the term, but I've still got two more weeks of SPM classes for the true believers. (Ha!)

Tomorrow I'm gonna visit an old classmate, Thayalan, whom I haven't seen for like, God knows how many years.  A mutual friend said that he looks like Craig David now, so I gotta verify this with my own world-wearied eyes. Thayalan, as far as I can remember him, was this pudgy guy who always had the band of his underwear pulled upwards (hence, wedgied) during PE lessons.

The streets outside are a wet mess, and it just gets better with sporadic explosions of firerackers that always catch you at the right moments.

Turned-Up Collars

Posted by aaronkok at 06:06 AM on October 24, 2005.

I was gonna get the hell out of tabulas when I noticed the blurred image of the guy with the striped polo shirt in the picture. What's the deal with this whole turned-up collar scene? It's like some authority on fashion decided that it's cool all of a sudden to do that. Yeah, flip it up, like that. Wahhh, you're so damn KOOO ah!

Chit-Chat Plug

Posted by aaronkok at 05:52 AM on October 24, 2005.

I'm prolly quite likely gonna be guest-waitering at a cafe next month! The wife and I have been hanging out there almost every weekend. It sounds cheesy to be saying this, but that cafe's an awesome public place for me to be myself! Oh what the hell, it wouldn't harm anyone to plug the cafe a bit. Well, it's called Chit-Chat, and located where Yes Cafe used to be. The guy who took over, Mr Wong, is the uncle of a friend of mine. It's amazing how fate and destiny work, and right from the get-go, Mr Wong and I have clicked, and it feels as if we've known each other for decades.

They haven't really finalised their menu, but what they have is pretty wicked. The wife and I pride ourselves as les gourmands gourmets, which could be a good thing as much as it is a bad thing. After all, I can't very well claim that our palates are representative of everyone else's in Ipoh. But if you're ever there, try the Cheesecake cos' it's fuckin AWESOME! In my not so humble opinion, it's even better than Resipi Rahsia. It's the second best-tasting cheesecake I've ever had in my young life, and it's only second to the Toffee Apple Cheesecake I've had in Toronto.

Then there's the Lamb Chop. Shit, I really should've taken some pictures. Never occurred to me during the countless times I was there. But what can you say? When I'm chowing down my food, I'm not called RAVENOUS for nothing.

More on this later, after I get my beauty sleep. Or else I'm gonna start projecting my crazy-ass hallucinations onto my students, like Augustus Cole did in the Sleepless episode of the X-Files.

My Deepest Condolences

Death happens, and claims yet another one. And death shall brag thou wander'st in his shade, as inevitable as the sound of an oncoming train.
